Drug and Health Education that empowers young Australians to make safe choices.

A couple of weeks ago, I went to the Healthy Harold Van and had a lesson there on 'The Burning Issue' and it was really cool!
My class and teacher thought it was great!
We are always doing an activity or working in the book that you gave us.

What We Do Introduction

Life Education is the nation’s largest not-for-profit provider of preventative drug education in schools. The Life Education program is used extensively to complement schools’ drug and health education programs.

Life Education is built on the philosophy that prevention is better than cure. Life Education encourages respect for the uniqueness of each individual. At the heart of everything Life Education does, is the fundamental belief that every child is ‘unique’.

The Life Education approach is based on national and international research, together with advice from government and professional bodies and is guided by the Principles for School Drug Education, 2004.

Life Education aims to assist schools with their drug and health education programs by working in partnership with state education departments, pre-school,primary and secondary school professionals and the general community.

To achieve this aim, Life Education:

  • enhances schools’ existing drug and health education programs by conducting student sessions and providing pre and post visit activities all of which use best practice in drug education
  • links to educational outcomes of key learning areas common to all state education curriculum documents
  • offers choices, within a modular design, at both the topic and educational outcome levels to meet individual school needs
  • professionally develops teachers through modelling in student sessions, giving exposure to other health and drug education resources and offering workshops/presentations
  • streamlines links to other health promoting community groups such state ambulance, road safety and police organisations
  • promotes school connectedness for both students and their families by facilitating school-based family forums where health and drug-related issues can be discussed in an open and supportive environment.

Life Education recognizes that the effectiveness of positive health messages is enhanced when the message is reinforced over a period of time, across the curriculum and within the home and broader community.
